WordPounce is designed for learners who want a short, playful way to revisit everyday English words. The game combines listening and visual word recognition with a shared challenge. It is vocabulary practice; it does not assess spoken pronunciation or certify proficiency.
How a match works
- 01 · Pick a word gardenChoose a level, topic and board of 20, 30, 50, 75 or 100 moving words.
- 02 · Listen and lookRead the target word, Vietnamese meaning and IPA; listen to its pronunciation and find the matching bubble.
- 03 · Catch it firstThe first correct selection earns a point. Finish the board, see the result and try another round.
What you can use today
- Three modes: timed solo practice, a bot with three speeds, and real-time two-player online rooms with six-digit invitation codes.
- A shared vocabulary bank: 463 entries across animals, food and drinks, nature, and everyday life, with Vietnamese meanings, IPA, illustrations and recorded pronunciation.
- Adjustable challenge: three levels and boards from 20 to 100 words. The starter level is intended for young beginners; older learners can choose larger boards.
- Low-friction access: free guest play without email or password registration. Players can optionally save a private eight-character recovery code to reopen their profile on another device.
- Progress and results: server-recorded coins, XP, match history and separate online, solo and bot leaderboards. In-game coins are virtual rewards.
Built for shared play
The frontend runs in a web browser. Cloudflare Workers serve the app, Durable Objects coordinate rooms over WebSockets, and D1 stores profiles and completed-match records. Scoring is determined by the server. Recorded word audio is served from the same domain.
Product stage and AI status
WordPounce is a live MVP. The current game does not integrate the Claude API. Its vocabulary and pronunciation recordings come from the provided word bank. Chinese and Japanese are possible future extensions and are not available in the current game.

Open the game and choose Phòng đấu to create a room. Share the six-digit room code with a friend. Keep your profile recovery code private; it is separate from the room code.
